What is Hot Dip Galvanizing?
Hot dip galvanizing is one of the most used methods for corrosion-protection in external areas.
Steel immersed in zinc reacts at a temperature of approximately 450°C forming iron zinc alloys by reciprocate diffusion.
These alloys create a very strong metallic connection between the coating and the steel assuring an optimal adherence.
If there are scratches or uncovered spots, the cathodic protection offered by the zinc-layer oxidizes instead of the steel, avoiding corrosion.
Hot dip galvanized parts resist to the salt-spray test more than 250 hours..
